Tagged 123
Rocket Finance tagged me a few days ago and I’m not quite sure who to tag in return since I don’t think I have many regular visitors yet. So, I’ll complete the challenge and let anybody else who might feel left out to tag yourself.
Here are the instructions:
- Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
- Open the book to page 123.
- Find the fifth sentence.
- Post the next three sentences.
- Tag five people.
I happen to have ‘Just For Fun’ by Linus Torvalds next to my desk that I received for Christmas. The book is a semi-autobiography of Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux and the Linux Kernel. I’m only through the first through chapters, but here are the fifth through seventh sentances on page 123.
The course was so basic — this was the fall of 1993, before the populartity of the Internet — my homework assignment for the class one day was to send me email. It sounds absurd today, but I said “For homework, send me email.”
Other students’ emails contained simple test messages or unmemorable notes about the class.
In reading the context of this, Linus was teaching a computer course at the University of Helsinki. One of the student, instead of sending a simple message, asked him out on a date. He ended up marrying her.
