LendingClub thank you earns an immediate 5% bonus
I’ve been toying around with peer to peer lending for about 6 months now with a little money in Prosper.com. I’m to the point now where I’m comfortable with it and was looking to try out some other sites. I signed up for a free account at LendingClub.com but haven’t done anything with it yet.
I logged into my account today and noticed this message:
The official announcement is on this blog post. Essentially, when you transfer $5,000 to your LendingClub account and invest it before Monday, February 3rd, you get a 5% cash bonus added to your account. They claim to earn an average of over 12%, so with that additional 5%, that should be a pretty good return. In addition, if you follow this link to sign up, you get an extra $50 when making an initial deposit of more than $1000 (or $25 for any other amount).
I’m very tempted to invest in it, but just don’t know if I want to tie up that money for the three years it takes to get repaid.
