eHealthInsurance Refunded my Non-Refundable Fee
At one point during my insurance fiasco a couple weeks ago, I thought that it would be a couple more weeks before my new health insurance application would be approved. I didn’t want to pay an extra day at COBRA insurance rates, so I applied for a short-term insurance plan to cover the difference. The short-term plan from eHealthInsurance.com was $101.78, which included a $20 non-refundable application fee.
As luck would have it, I signed up for the short term plan in the morning, and got the approval paperwork for the real insurance plan later that day in the mail. I emailed the folks at eHealthInsurance.com as soon as I could, but didn’t get a reply until a couple days later, saying that it had been canceled, but without any details. I also called the short term insurance company and had them cancel it, but they said that I would get a refund for $81.78 (not including the $20 application fee).
So I was a little surprised when I got a refund check in the mail today for the full $101.78. Its alwas nice to be surprised by an extra $20.00.
